Ever wanted to take a bus from Earth to another planet entirely? Us too! If we could, this is the map we’d use to get from here to there. Now you can use it to do that, too!

Complete with distances between orbits expressed in meters per second of Δv, along with orbital altitudes and helpful indicators for which planetary bodies have atmospheres that can support aerobraking, this map has everything you need to plan your next trip between planets. All you need is an interplanetary spaceship - which, if you have one of those, please call us. (Not you, Elon. We blocked your number for a reason.)

“This is awesome! I want it on my wall or something!”

You are not alone! We’re not really set up to do much in the way of printing beyond 13x19 inches in size, and as much as we’d love to make lots of prints and ship them, that would cost more money and time than we can afford. So we set up a Redbubble thing to help make that happen. If you want physical stuff with this on it, get it here!

We aren’t trying to get paid from this; our margin is set at $0 on everything, so you’re only paying Redbubble’s cost and profit for whatever you buy this way. We’re open to suggestions as to where money from this should go, if we were to change that margin to something more than zero.

“This is awesome! I want to make something new with it!”

That’s amazing! We have for you multiple versions of the image in sizes from tiny to enormous, with both transparent and opaque backgrounds. So you can use it to do your own even better stuff! We’re also willing to consider sharing the original Illustrator file, if you have a use for it. It’s incredibly gross because we’ve never used Illustrator before this, but you might be able to make something out of it anyway. See below for how you can contact us to ask about that, if you’re interested.

“Is that all?”

No! It’s only all for now. We’re looking forward to making something even better based on this - it’s all well and good to depict the solar system as it exists in current year, but what we really want to do is create a depiction of a solarpunk future, designed by consensus, that we’d all love to see. This isn’t going away! No worries there. But that’s coming.

So keep an eye out for that, coming…well, if we’re honest, coming whenever. But definitely coming! In the meantime, if you have any ideas for what that solarpunk future might look like - and how we might include them in a map very much like this one - please let us know! There’s a toot thread if you’re on fedi, or you can DM us there. And email always works too! We hope we’ll hear from you.

We hope you enjoy it!

We had an incredible amount of fun making this! It’s based on an earlier work by u/carion and u/CuriousMetaphor on Reddit, and we were inspired and encouraged throughout by lots of wonderful people on the fediverse, especially but not exclusively:

We love you all! ❤️💜💙
